Salah Offers Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his televised remarks.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
He also implied that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I get that there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the period after the situation. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and starting to win games.”
